Ernest "Ernie" Romero, 77, of Denver, CO, peacefully passed away on September 27, 2013.
Ernie was born in Denver, CO in September of 1936 to Adolph Romero and Mary Salaz in West Denver. Ernie grew up with his sisters Bernice Zieger, Mildred Ellis, Anita Cagle, and Connie Moya. At infancy Ernie became very ill and suffered from developmental and physical disabilities. However, Ernie lived a full life in the care of his mother and sisters, spending the last 23 years with his sister Mildred in Denver. Previously Ernie spent a great deal of his life in San Jose, CA, where his mother, Mary Salaz and step-father, Fritzi Salaz are laid to rest. Ernie also had other siblings including Gloria Guiteriez, Bobby Romero, and Jeannie Martinez, and step-sister Marie Chacon. Ernie has several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Throughout his life Ernie "mowed lawns" for a living both in San Jose and Denver. Despite his physical disabilities, Ernie did this for most of his life. With the help of his family Ernie was able to live a fulfilling and stress free life. Ernie was a member of Landmark Tabernacle Church where he was very socially active. Family, friends, and God remained important hallmarks throughout Ernie's life. Any where Ernie went, he had a friend.
Ernie was survived by his last caretaker and sister, Mildred Ellis, as well as his siblings Anita Cage, Connie Moya, Jeannie Martinez, and step sister Marie Chacon.
The legacy of Ernie will be his ability to make anyone smile, laugh, and feel good about themselves. Ernie never missed a chance to complement you no matter the circumstances. He will be gravely missed but his family and friends rejoice his next big adventure in heaven.
