Ernest, also known by many as "Jiggs" and "Ernie", was a typical hard working Middle America man born September 8, 1930 in Tipton, Iowa. He served his country when called upon, married and had 3 children Steve, Kerry and Vicki; 5 Grandchildren, John, Ben, Angie, Liz and Chris.
Ernest worked as a cook in the United States Air Force feeding as many as 10,000 soldiers a day. He never forgot how cooking and running a kitchen shaped his life in working hard and later was a supervisor of many in new careers.
His work as a Millwright took him many places, Iowa (born), Colorado, Wyoming and Florida. His many brothers and sisters called him Jiggs and if you knew him that name fits perfectly! He was known for his humor, teasing, love of dogs and a great handyman. He had many interests from sports, camping, snowmobiling, reading and his love of music. Most of us know his talent for whistling could not be matched and he had a great singing voice as well.
Ernest spent his last 4 years at the Colorado Veterans Home in Aurora, Colorado where he lived well and had many friends. We are grateful for their care and how they really made it a "Home" for him. He will be truly missed by all who knew him!
