Esther P. Chavez "Solano," passed away peacefully at her home in Denver, Colorado, on February 28, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on May 7, 1937, in Denver, Esther dedicated her life to her family and her community. Her career spanned several years in retail and sales, and she also worked in her brother-in-law's restaurant. Those who had the pleasure of knowing her will remember her for her kind-hearted nature and her nurturing spirit.
Esther was a woman of many passions. She cherished every moment spent in Blackhawk, where she created lasting memories with friends and family. Her love for literature, particularly the romance novels of Danielle Steele, provided her endless enjoyment. Cooking for her family was not just a duty for Esther but a way to express her love, gathering her children and grandchildren around the kitchen table for meals filled with warmth and laughter.
Traveling with her husband, Ray Chavez, was another profound joy in Esther's life. Their journey together lasted an incredible 64 years, a testament to their enduring love and commitment to one another. Esther wore the title of mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother proudly, finding immense joy in celebrating milestones such as her children graduating from high school and the accomplishments of her grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving sons, Ray L. Chavez Jr. (Belinda) and Ken Chavez Sr. (Gina), alongside numerous cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She deeply adored her siblings: Juanita Ramos, Margaret Goldblatt, Louise Perez, and James Solano, with whom she shared a close bond.
Esther is now reunited with her beloved parents, Pete Solano and Della Lovato, her beloved husband Ray Chavez, and her eight siblings, leaving behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire her family and friends.
A visitation in honor of Esther will take place on March 19, 2026, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:30 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home, West Metro, located at 901 S Sheridan Blvd, Denver, CO. Esther will be laid to rest at Fort Logan National Cemetery (staging are Blue), where the burial will occur at 1:00 PM.
Memories of Esther's loving spirit will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be dearly missed, but her legacy of love and kindness will remain a guiding light for her family and friends.
