Ethel Walter
On Monday, January 30, 2012, the soul of Ethel Mae Titus (Mo'Dear) soared into the house of the Lord. Her transition took place at Compassionate Care Nursing Home located in Denver, Colorado. Ethel was born in Natchez, MS on October 26, 1924 to Elmira Wilson and Marshall Titus. She was raised in Natchez along with 8 other siblings: R.J. Lindsay, Catherine Thomas (Natchez, MS), Gladys Morris (Baton Rouge, LA), Hilda Marshall (Stone Mountain, GA), Thelma Diggs (Chicago, IL) Mary Louise Titus (Chicago, IL) Wilson Titus (deceased) and Vivien Titus (deceased).
Ethel was the third child and at the age of 18 traveled to Denver, CO to care for the children of her employer. In 1943 she returned to Natchez. She later relocated to New Orleans where she remained for several years. In 1945 Ethel moved to Baton Rouge and married Jesse Walter in 1948.
She is survived by 8 children: Lucy, Ruth (Albert), Earlean (John), Betty (Preston), Jesse III, Larry (Marilyn), Donald (Sherrie) and Ronald; 12 grandchildren: Makini, Jabari, Clifton, Danielle, LaSandra, Cedric, Santino, Lorenzo, Shawn, Emi, Deanna, and Donald Jr.; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Denver has been Ethel's home since 1962. She was known for her humility and her humor. She loved her family dearly and devoted her life to them. She raised her family with Christian values and has now earned her reward. Well done my good and faithful servant. Rest in Peace. We will always love and remember you.
