Eugene Paul Amoroso, Jr. "Gene", 76, of Littleton, CO, died December 19, 2016, at Willowbrook Place Memory Care Community in Littleton, CO. Born July 11, 1940 in Torrington, CT, Gene was son of Eugene P. and Carolyn L. Amoroso. The family moved to Pueblo, CO when Gene was 15. He graduated from Pueblo Catholic High School in 1958, attended Pueblo Junior College, Colorado State College and the University of Northern Colorado where he received associate, bachelor's and master's degrees. He served in the U.S. Army reserves.
On January 21, 1967, Gene was married to Helen Louise Hickman. They shared nearly 50 years of marriage. Gene is survived by wife, Helen; son, Paul (Liz) of Lakewood; daughter, Anna Amoroso-Muench (Brock) of Parker; four grandchildren, Tricia, Rhonda and Mary Amoroso and Grant Muench and niece, Molly Romero of Pueblo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Carolyn, and brother, David.
Gene's began his career as an educator in 1964, teaching Distributive Education at Pueblo Central High School. In 1970, he moved to Denver and became State Supervisor of Distributive Education at the Colorado State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education; and, in 1977, he began work at Arapahoe Community College, where he retired as Dean of Business and Professional Serves in 1995.
Gene enjoyed spending much of his retirement at his beloved home in Lake City, CO. His favorite activities included fishing, four-wheeling, exploring the rivers and trails of the San Juan Mountains and socializing with cherished friends and family. He was a member of Light of the World Roman Catholic Church in Littleton, CO.
A Memorial Service will be January 12th at 10:30 A.M. at Light of the World Roman Catholic Church, 10316 W Bowles Ave., Littleton, CO 80127. Right of Committal and Interment will be at Roselawn Cemetery in Pueblo, CO, date and time to be announced later. The family will have a remembrance of Gene's life in Lake City, CO in early summer, 2017.
