Florence Marie Staadt, 90, Denver, passed away Wednesday January 16, 2013.
She was born to the late Chester and Flossie Ferguson May 19, 1922, in a farmhouse located in the County of Franklin 7 miles from Ottawa, Kansas. Florence graduated from Ottawa High School in 1940.
She married the late Charles Robert Staadt in 1941, and they lived in Ottawa Kansas, before relocating to Canyon City, Colorado in 1951 to open a business to build custom window shutters and furniture. Florence and Bob relocated once again to the Denver Metro Area in 1956.
Florence was not only a loving wife, mother, grandmother she was also known for her skills as a machinist for 30 years, making water valves for farm mills. She had many hobby's such as glass cutting, crocheting, needlepoint, quilting, leatherwork, Colorado history, and always enjoying the outdoors.
Florence was well known for contributing and participating as an active member to many organizations located around the Denver Area. To list a few The Denver Westerners (Florence was awarded the "Lifetime Achievement Award" for the preservation of Colorado history), Aurora Historical Society, Colorado Historical Society, Colorado Ghost Town "Club, Front Range Antique Power Association.
Florence was the mother of 6 children Les Staadt, of Volcano, HI; Ron Staadt, of Arvada, CO; Don Staadt, of Aurora, CO; Lana Siemer, of Schererbille, ID; John Staadt, of Aurora, CO; Gary Staadt, of Aurora, CO (deceased Aug of 1991). Grandmother of 12 children, Great Grandmother of 20 children and one more on the way.
