Frances Ann Melchior, 79
Frances Ann Melchior, age 79, of Littleton, Colorado, died at Life Care Center of Littleton on Good Friday, April 18, 2014.
Born in 1934 in Norfolk, Virginia, she was lovingly raised by her adoptive parents, Anthony and Nora Bernosky of San Diego, California.
As a child, Frances lived with her parents in San Diego, then, in her early teen years, at Pearl Harbor Naval Base located on the Island of Oahu, Hawaii, where she learned Hula dancing. She returned with her parents to San Diego in 1951, graduated from La Mesa High School, and after graduation lived in such places as Chicago, Illinois and Anchorage, Alaska. She eventually returned to San Diego where she met Joseph Leo Melchior, her husband of 52 years, whom she married on July 12, 1962.
Frances' passion was fishing and camping with her husband, friends and extended family. She is fondly remembered as the one who always somehow managed to catch fish when none were biting. She also loved bowling, and bowled on several bowling leagues over the years. She made many lifelong friends there. She also loved her two dogs, Pumpkin and Missy, who will dearly miss her.
Frances is survived by her husband, Joseph Leo Melchior of Littleton, CO; her mother-in-law, Rosa Melchior; her brother, George (Deana) Macmillen, of McKinleyville, CA; her three children: David Melchior of Littleton, CO; Darold "Steve" (Charah) Melchior of Cheyenne, WY; and Suzanne (Vince) Makowski of Littleton, CO; and her fourteen grandchildren: Michael and Mark Melchior; Nicholas "Nick" and Daniel "Dan" Makowski; and Jillian, Ian, Nathan, Matthew, Luke, Ross, Grant, Lauren, Claire and Sam Melchior. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Nora Bernosky.
Services (Mass) will be held at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Holy Name Catholic Parish (3290 W. Milan Ave., Sheridan, CO), followed by Interment at 12:15 p.m. at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area "C" (4400 W. Kenyon Ave., Denver, CO). A reception will follow at VFW Post 322 (3800 S. Windermere St., Englewood, CO) beginning at 1:00 p.m.
