In Memory of
FRANCES MARIAN KEOGH
Frances Marian Keogh (née Dove) died peacefully in Brookdale Green Mountain Assisted Living Facility on November 14 in Lakewood, Colorado at the age of 91.
Frances is survived by her children, Warren (Sally) of Chickaloon, Alaska, Charles (Kathy) of Parker, Colorado, Michael (Anna) of Ogden, Utah, Denis of Cordova, Alaska, June Uhlig of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Joan (Todd) Bertolaet of Tallahassee, Florida. She is also survived by her brother Lewis (Esther) Dove of Goodells, Michigan, and by 21 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister Bertha Dove of Goodells, Michigan.
Frances was born on June 19, 1924, in Goodells, Michigan, to Donald and Frances Dove. She graduated from Port Huron High School in 1942 and married James Keogh in 1946. After moving to Colorado in 1955 via Florida and Utah, she lived the rest of her life in Colorado with the exception of a yearlong hiatus to Alaska in 1980. In addition to decades of dedicated work as mother and housewife, Frances worked full time for 20 years at Rolling Hills Country Club and later worked at Pinehurst Country Club in food service for 33 years. She held varied positions ranging from waitress to dining room supervisor to special events coordinator. She reluctantly retired from Pinehurst in 2013 at age 89.
Frances grew up as a rural Michigan farm girl who became accomplished at sewing, craft making and cooking. As a storyteller she often put smiles on faces and generated laughter with tales of life on the farm. She displayed an extraordinarily strong work ethic her entire life. She was a founding member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Lakewood, Colorado, established in 1963, and remained an active and dedicated member. She sang in the choir for many years, was the unofficial church historian from its beginning, and served over 20 years as the volunteer leader of the church's senior ministry group, the "Prime Timers."
A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 19, at Concordia Lutheran Church, 13371 W. Alameda Parkway, Lakewood. Burial will immediately follow the service at Golden Cemetery, 755 Ulysses St., in Golden, Colorado. Pastor Thomas Teske will officiate the church service and Pastor Charles Keogh will officiate the burial ceremony.
Friends and family will gather shortly after 12:00 p.m. at Concordia Church for a luncheon to follow cemetery interment. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Fran's life.
Memorial donations may be made to Concordia Church's "Prime Timers" or the City of Lakewood Heritage Center for the preservation of historic farm equipment (c/o HCA Division, 480 S. Allison Parkway, Lakewood, Colorado 80226.)
Condolences can be sent to Newcomer Funeral Home at www.newcomerdenver.com
The family extends special thanks to Fran's caregivers the past five months, particularly her Suncrest hospice care team (Molly, Stephanie, Amanda, Michele, and Denise) for their dedication and loving care.
