Francisco "Eloy" Trujillo

In Loving Memory of Francisco “Eloy” Trujillo January 29, 1942 - August 8, 2026. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Eloy Trujillo who passed away peacefully on August 8, 2026 at the age of 84. He was born to Felipe (Phillip) Trujillo Sr. and Mariquita (Garcia) Trujillo in Gascon, New Mexico.

Eloy will be remembered for his kindness, friendly infectious laugh, and smile. Though his earthly journey has ended, the memory of his presence will long be remembered in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

He lived in Gascon/Rociada till he was 4 years old when his family moved to Brighton, CO, in 1946. He attended and graduated from Brighton schools. He received his barbering license from The School of Barbering in1965 and started working at the Villa Italia, later opening his first shop at The Regency in Denver. He then moved his shop, called “Hare”, to the Quebec Center. He was drafted into the Army in January 1968 and spent 9 months in Vietnam in the Corps of Engineers. He was Honorably discharged in September 1969. He eventually opened a new shop out of his home and remained a hair stylist till he retired. He had also received specialized training in men’s cuts in California by Jay Sebring, a Hollywood stylist who revolutionized men’s hair. All of his children worked in his shop at one time or another. His daughter, Cindy, worked alongside him for 43 years and today continues to carry out their passion. His clientele loved him. One of the perks of working a service job, he gained many friends and his wife, Sonja.

He married and had 2 daughters, Cindy Mora, and Dana Aguayo. He divorced, remarried and had a son, Eloy Jr., who is still today called “Little Eloy”. This marriage dissolved and he then married Sonja Reilly on July 4, 1995, whom he loved dearly and was married to, till his recent passing.

As his family grew with grandchildren and great grandchildren, he enjoyed the memories made. He was an avid fisherman and camper. After dating Sonja for a while, he invited her to camp with him. He came to pick her up and she had several suitcases ready to go. (She was only teasing him, but his reaction was always remembered). As life slowed down, he and Sonja liked to gamble in Black Hawk, where you might meet up with them on any given Saturday. He also enjoyed spending many days/nights at home with Little Eloy watching Denver sports teams and the games. He also loved a good steak!

He is survived by his wife, Sonja; brother, Felipe (Phil); sister, Sarah Robinson, together with his daughters Cindy Mora, Dana Aguayo, and son Eloy Jr. (Isabel). He has 3 grandsons, 4 great grandsons, and 4 great granddaughters; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by both parents, 2 brothers: Rafael (Ralph), Pedro (Pete), 3 siblings who passed very young: Juanito, Maria, and Corina; one grandson, Eric Vigil; and
