Master Sargent Garold G. Artis went home to be with his LORD on Saturday May 3rd 2014 at the University of Colorado Hospital in Denver Colorado after battling a long term illness. He was sixty six years old.
Gary was born on August 24, 1947 in Walnut Illinois to Gerald B. Artis and Catherine E. (Tuttle) Artis. Gary had a twin brother Gerald D. Artis.
Gary graduated high school in Opp Alabama in 1966 with his brother Jerry. Shortly after graduation, Gary and Jerry both enlisted in the army. They served their country together for 30 years and both retired from the Army Special Forces in 1997. Gary was a Vietnam Veteran.
Gary was a strong born again Christian and was always eager to share his faith with others. He loved his Family and Country.
He is survived in death by his wife Paula G. Artis of Villa Grove Colorado, Brother Gerald D. Artis of Walsenburg Colorado, Sister Sandra Mason of Westminster Colorado, daughters Lisa Artis of Aurora Colorado and Sarah Artis of Littleton Colorado. Gary had two grandchildren Madison and Tyler and one nephew Michael Ward of Lakewood Colorado.
A graveside service will be held on May 13, 2014 at 11:00am at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Lakewood Colorado. The service will be conducted by Military Chaplain Bruce Wagner and David Brock Special Forces Chaplain.
