Gary "Wayne" Adinolfi, 71, died on November 5, 2017, in Aurora, Colorado. Wayne grew up in Norwalk, Connecticut with three brothers and twin sisters. At the age of 20, he was drafted to serve in Vietnam. He served with the Army for nearly 28 months and spent over 7 months serving active duty in Vietnam as a machine gunner on an Army personnel carrier. He was honorably discharged after contracting malaria where he spent 4 months in the hospital recovering from the disease.
After the war, work brought him to California, where he spent the majority of his adult years, until moving to Colorado following a series of health issues in 2012.
In June 2017, he traveled to DC with his daughter and fellow veterans to see the war memorials, thanks to senior wish-granting nonprofit Wish of a Lifetime and had the opportunity to reunite with his two sisters, who he hasn't seen in 40 years.
He is survived by 4 siblings, Joseph Adinolf, Sheri Randazzo, Sheila Randazzo, and Terry Adinolfi; daughter, Cari Olsen and 3 granddchildren, Makenzie Kalcevic, Natalee Kalcevic and Riley Olsen. He was preceded in death by both parents, Joseph and Rheuama "Rae" Adinolfi and brother Richard Adinolfi.
A memorial service is scheduled November 17, 2017 at at 10:30 am at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
