Gary David Wallace

August 7, 1962 — May 22, 2024

Gary David Wallace 08/07/1962-05/22/2024

Gary David was born on August 7,1962 at Molesworth AFB in Huntingdonshire England. He lived in Spangdahlem, Germany and Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan before permanently residing in Northglenn, CO.

At the age of 9, Gary David’s father got a compassionate transfer in the Air Force, through his cousin Dr. David Wallace and Senator Byrd of West Virginia to Denver, CO so that his son could attend St. Catherine’s school for disabled. After attending there he attended Rivendell pre-vocational school till he was 18 years old and received the most popular, best personality, best sense of humor, and most improved concept. His sister Jeaneene helped him get into Special Olympics in 1978 and he got to stay overnight at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. He graduated and moved on to North Metro Community Services with his sister LuAnn as his caregiver in the family caregiver program where his mom still is on the board of directors. It was through perseverance and years of teaching that his parents found places Gary could learn and become one with society.

Gary was full of life! Although he was mentally the mind of a 3-year-old he was always surprising us with his comedic humor and use of words at the right moment. He traveled the states going on vacations with his family and visiting his grandparents and other family members. He loved football, keys, his dolls, books & magazines, Halloween, scary movies, Rock & Roll, Elvis, car rides, food, any movie with Ernest in it and the Northglenn Elks Lodge. He was even made an honorary member of the Northglenn Elks where he would love to listen to music, give members high five and steal their drinks! He was easy-going and taught us patience, humility and compassion. Without the love from his family, we would never have experienced the love of our son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and nephew that we all enjoyed.

He is survived by his mother, Edith Wallace, sisters, Jeaneene Wallace and LuAnn Wallace-Valdez (Alfonso A. Valdez II) niece, Golden Ben-Joseph (Alex Smith) great niece Coraline Smith, great nephew, Sebastian Smith, Aunts Elizabeth Johnson, Marilyn Sexton, cousins Libby Wallace, Anne Marie Griffis. Proceeded in death by father, Gary Lyle Wallace, grandparents James Smart, Lula B. Pearce (Maynard Pearce) Delmar Wallace (Geneva), uncles Davy Wallace, Joe Johnson, Jerry Sexton.
