George Junior Albrecht passed away peacefully October 29, 2025, at the age of 94. He was born March 25, 1931, in Nebraska to George and Lillian. George enlisted in the Air Force in January 1951 and was honorably discharged in January 1955 as an Airman First Class. While stationed in Colorado Springs, George met and went on to marry the love of his life, Shirley Stanley, in June of 1956. After living in Creston, Iowa for several years, George and Shirley settled in Aurora, Colorado where George worked as a Shift Foreman in the oil and gas industry.
In his spare time, George loved to do things with the family. Every summer was a family trip to Lake McConaughy in Nebraska where we would camp, waterski, and jet ski. He also enjoyed gardening and keeping his yard immaculate. George participated in sports when he was younger and loved watching his children and grandchildren participate in their sports and school events. After the children got older and both George and Shirley retired, they did a lot of traveling. They visited all 50 states in the US as well as various countries. During their US trips, they tried to visit as many major league baseball stadiums as baseball was George’s favorite sport.
Shirley preceded George in death in May 2022. George is survived by one sister, Betty; four children, Cindy (Randy), Sheri, Pam (Bryant), and Brian (Zanthia), as well as 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. He loved them all and touched their lives deeply. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Memorial services are November 28, 2025 at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in George’s honor to the Food Bank of the Rockies, foodbankrockies.org.
