George I. Julious

April 16, 1929 — December 4, 2015

Retired 1st SGT. George Irma Julious was born in Sardinia, SC on April 16, 1929. He was the oldest of three children. He came from a very religious family, and accepted Christ at a very young age. He was a founding member at Lowry Community Christian Church and was active until his illness.

George completed his education while he was enlisted in the army. He went through basic training, completed tours in Okinawa, Japan and then returned to the states. While in the army George enjoyed reading novels and, yes The Bible. The decorated Vietnam Veteran received many citations and medals, which included: Vietnam Service Medal with six Bronze Service Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device Bronze Star Medal, and an Army Commendation Medal. He served two tours in Vietnam and one tour in Korea.

1st SGT. Julious retired from the Army on July 31, 1971, after serving 20 years of service. Too young to fully retire, Julious gained employment with Regional Transportation District (RTD). He retired from (RTD) in 1992 after serving 20 full years.

George enjoyed his retirement life to the utmost. He enjoyed spending time traveling, jogging, riding his bike, and spending a whole lot of money on a camera he only used once. His grandchildren were a joy in his life.

1st SGT. Julious went through the gates of heaven on December 4, 2016. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving, caring wife, Velma; two sisters, Carrie Mathis of Brooklyn, NY and Catherine (Lafayel) Nicholson of NJ; three daughters, Patricia (Fred Sr.) Hatch of Roanoke, VA, Lanetta (Anthony) Hollingsworth of Aurora, CO, and Stephanie June (Wendell Sr.) Perkins of Denver, CO; four grandchildren, Deja Hatch, Fred Hatch Jr., Andriss Mims, and Shannin Hatch; one great-grandchild, Demi Hatch; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. George's grandchildren were a joy in his life.

Pop, you will be greatly missed by many!
