George W. Brown, 89, died Feb. 24 at home with his wife and family members. He was born March 18, 1924, in Selah, Washington, to George Washington Brown and Edna Mabel Hersom.
George was a veteran of World War II. He flew as a bombardier/gunner in a B-17 with the 8th Air Corp, and was stationed in England. George worked for United Airlines as a Flight Simulator Technician, retiring after 22 years. He was happiest in the mountains and enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, motorcycle riding, skiing and boating.
George married his high school sweetheart, Frances Mae Stephens on Dec. 11, 1943. The couple was married for 69 years and has lived in Aurora, Co since 1962.
George is survived by his wife, Frances; children David G. Brown of Albuquerque, NM, and Lorraine Brown-Bassett of Cheyenne, WY; grandchildren Barbara Bradbury-Brown, William Bradbury-Brown, Justin Bassett, and Dain Bassett; great-granddaughter Katherine Bassett.
A graveside service will be held Monday, March 4, at 9:30 a.m.at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area "B." A reception will follow at the family home.
