Gerald Patrick Kane Sr.

Grateful for the hope of eternal life we announce the passing of Gerald Patrick Kane on December 28, 2016 in Denver, Colorado. Born October 2, 1934, "Jerry" was predeceased by his parents Patrick J. Kane and Mary B. Kane (nee Joyce). Dear brother of: Patricia (Thomas) Gardner, deceased; Robert (Rosemarie, deceased) Kane, and former spouse, Geraldine (deceased); Margaret (Milton, deceased) Charlton; Kathleen (Jack) Forrestal; and Drs. Kevin (Irene) Kane.
Loved by his children Colleen (Arthur) Adams; Monica Jones; Patrick (Jennifer) Kane; Pamela Hess; Jerry Kane Jr.; Bridget (Jeff) Vaive; and Michael Kane. Survived by the mother of his children, Joan Lee.
Beloved Grandpa and "Opa" to Andrew, Danielle, Michelle, Katherine, Megan, Kari (Josh), Taran, Kelsey (Jamie), Lindsay (Adam), Jessie, Gracie, Jacob, and Great Grandpa to Luke. He was the cherished uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Jerry served in the Air National Guard Reserves from 1953 to 1960. He graduated from Holy Name High School in 1952 and one week afterwards embarked on a thirty-seven year career with the telephone company. He began with Ohio Bell in Cleveland and worked as a frame man, installer, computer room manager and auditor before transitioning to the AT&T training center in Denver, Colorado in 1979 to teach auditing. He reluctantly retired in December of 1989. Jerry was a volunteer with the Bell Telephone Pioneers for many years. He enjoyed reading, taking home movies, woodworking, golfing, walking and hiking, rowboats and fishing, sharing stories with friends and family, and spending time with his children.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Brendan Catholic Church in North Olmsted, Ohio, on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., (PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH), followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brookpark, Ohio. Family will receive friends at the church from 9:30 until the start of Mass at 10:00.
