Geraldine Elizabeth Ward

August 4, 1937 — May 30, 2014

The Scroll of Life

Her Departure:

Silent as midmorning, Geraldine "Gerri" Elizabeth Ward Slipped into God's blessed Eternity to make her home with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 29, 2014. She left her earthy home in the presence of her long time love, confidant and partner Robert Shepherd.

Her Earthly Reign:

Geraldine was born August 4, 1937 to the proud parents of William "Bill" Maynard and Anna Mae Arnold of Xenia, Ohio. She was the oldest of six children. Both of her parents, younger sister Christine Marie Cardwell and youngest brother Vernon James Arnold preceded her in death. After the death of her sister, Gerri adopted and raised her youngest son Douglas Cardwell as her own.

After her parents moved to Lewisburg, WV. In the early 40's Gerri became an active member of the John Wesley United Methodist Church. Gerri graduated from the legendary "Bowling JHiah and elementary School" of Lewisburg, where she met Melvin Jackson and born two sons, Michael D. Jackson of Columbus, OH. and Barry W. Jackson of Charlotte, NC. She later marries a home town friend Homer Ward who preceded her in death in Detroit, MI.

Gerri began as an employee of the world known "The Greenbrier Hotel of White Sulphur Springs, WV. Where she labored for some 20 plus years prior to her moving to Colorado Springs, CO in the early 80's on the invitation of her brother "Benny," who was in the military and in need of her motherly expertise to help with his two sons, while he was stationed in West Germany.

Gerri's new life began in Colorado Springs, as she helped raise her two nephews throughout adolescent, teen and school years while studying and training as a nurse assistant in the health care of the elderly. There Gerri met and fell in love with Robert Shepherd as they maintained their relationship for some 25 plus years of bliss. Robert stayed by her side through her short illness until the very end.

Gerri is survived by three brothers, Wilbur Curtis Arnold of White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, Richard Eugene Arnold of Lewisburg, West Virginia and Carl Benjamin "Benny" Arnold of Phoenix, Arizona; two sons, Michael D. Jackson of Columbus, Ohio and Barry W. Jackson of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

"And God Shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain." (Rev. 21:4)

My death shall touch a dozen lives
Before this day is done;
Leave countless marks for good or ill
Ere sets the evening sun;
So this wish I always pray;
Let my death help the other lives
It touched along the way.
