GERTRUDE A. GRASSMANN
June 6, 1928-March 13, 2013
Gertrude "Trudy" Grassmann was born in New York City to Max and Frieda Grassmann. She and her twin sister, Margaret Grassmann, survived numerous medical problems as children, which helped both of them develop a strong will and a determined spirit.
Trudy attended New York University and the Art Students League where she became very proficient in watercolors, oil painting, pen and ink and drawing. Her art work was her joy throughout her life, was often exhibited and won awards.
As a young woman, Trudy's work career began at Met Life Insurance as a stenographer and then executive secretary. Later she became a legal secretary for the general counsel of a Madison Avenue advertising firm and then for W.R. Grace Co. In 1967 Trudy moved to Denver and went to work for Holly Sugar Co. She finished her career as the executive secretary for the CEO and president of Public Service Co.
Trudy was a long-time and active member of the Mother of God Catholic Church of Denver. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister and her brother, George. Trudy has relatives in Germany with whom she stayed in touch. She leaves behind her many friends, both in and outside the Church, with whom she celebrated life.
A mass to celebrate Trudy's life will be held at Mother of God Catholic Church at Speer Boulevard and Logan Street on March 22, 2013 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers a gift may be made to the Mother of God Church.
