Gloria Lanell (Self) Cox passed from this life into the eternal on Wednesday, October 24, 2018. She was 88 years old.
Gloria was born on November 22, 1929, in Erick, Oklahoma. She was the only child of Mae (Gibson) Self and Henry S. Self. Gloria and her family lived in Oklahoma during her young life, and then moved to California where Gloria graduated from Corona High School.
Gloria met her husband, Charles (Chuck) Cox in Home Gardens, California, and they were married on February 19, 1949. In 1953, Chuck and Gloria moved to Corona, California; and they adopted their only son Jeff in 1957. Gloria worked for the telephone company at this time.
Later in 1961 the family moved to Amarillo, Texas. During her years in Amarillo, Gloria worked as a switchboard operator for Colbert's department store, and then for several years she worked as a cafeteria worker in the Amarillo school system.
In 1982, Chuck and Gloria moved to Erick, Oklahoma, to help care for Gloria's mother Mae and step-father Otto Stoffel. They lived in Erick, Oklahoma until 1998 when they moved to Littleton, Colorado to be nearer the help of family.
Chuck and Gloria celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends in February 1999. At the time of Chuck's death in 2010, they had been married 61 years.
Gloria lived in Littleton, Colorado for the remainder of her life on earth. She is survived by her son Jeff and daughter-in-law Cheryl; three grandchildren, Michael Cox, Stephen Cox, and Rebecca McDonald; and eight great-grand children, Westin Cox, Madi Cox, Jackson Cox, Benjamin Cox, Rowan Cox, Killian Cox, Eden McDonald and Aspen McDonald.
Gloria's memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10th. She will be buried with Chuck Cox at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
