My mom
I would like to apologize in advance for the late notice regarding my mom. She passed away 12/20/15.
With the grief, the holidays and moms not wanting any services, time just kind of got away from us.
That and the fact that we both kind of assumed the other one was making the calls.
My mom did not want any service of any kind. I am sure that comes as no surprise to any of you.
She was the bravest, strongest woman I ever knew and I was honored to be able to take care of her
and keep her at home for her last days. Robert, myself and my girls were there with her when she
took her last breath and I thank god everyday that we were with her.
She didn't like talking about her illness or dying. She wanted to fight it, and fight it she did till the
very end. She lived a whole year past what they originally predicted due to her advanced disease
stage when they found it.
That doesn't surprise me. As an adult she went back to college while taking care of her mom,
grandma Mattie. She got pulled out of class by the Aurora PD to be informed her youngest son,
Bryan, has passed away. She took a year off after that and when she finally went back, she
graduated MAGNA CUM LAUDE! All while working full time.
I am also proud to say that this past September, Mom, myself and Robert went on a "trip of
a lifetime" together. Mom loved lighthouses and LOVED Elvis. We went to Graceland and
went to see a light house she always wanted to see in Tybee Island GA. She LOVED that
trip and had the time of her life. Even in her fragile state she made it to the top of the light
house! 178 steps………
She had many happy times. "She loved her kids, couldn't live without her sister and ADORED ........
her grand children and was there any time any of us needed her. She truly was the foundation of her immediate family.
I cannot say enough how much she will be missed…………………………
