Henry Virgil Davis was born on October 13, 1927, the youngest child of James Columbus Davis and Helen Irene Stahlman Davis.
Virgil served in the Air Force during the last 18 months of WWII and was discharged with the rank of Sergeant. He graduated from the University of Denver in 1949 and then went on to School of Physical Therapy at Stanford University, graduating in 1950.
Virgil married a class mate from Stanford, Margie Fern Snowden on May 14, 1950. Virgil along with his wife, Margie, built, the first FHA financed, 120 bed Nursing home in the State of Colorado in 1964. Five years later, they expanded the facility to 237 beds. After 33 years they sold the facility and retired in 1988.
Following their retirement, they lived in Oklahoma, Illinois and Texas. However, in 2001 they returned to Denver to be closer to their daughters.
After the death of his wife Margie in 2007, Virgil married Vera Mae Babers, on August 8, 2009.
Virgil passed away at Denver Health Medical Center on November 21, 2017. He is survived by his wife Vera, daughters Beatrice Lynn Davis Green, Bethany Ann Davis Atkins and son James Marc Davis.
