Hans Thomsen (born Peterberns) passed away on May 9, 2026 at the age of 95.

Hans was born in New York City to August and Mararete Peterberns, who immigrated from Germany to the United States in the 1920's. His surname was changed when he was adopted by his stepfather, Max Thomsen.

When he was thirteen years old, his family moved to Massachusetts. At age eighteen, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps, serving four years of active duty during the Korean War and additional four years in the Air Force Reserves.

After his military service, Hans started his own home improvement business in New York. He married his first wife, Alene, and they shared ten years of marriage before her passing in 1968. Three years later, he married Virginia and together they enjoyed fifty-five wonderful years of marriage.

Hans and Virginia later moved to Aspen, Colorado, where he spent thirty-five years working as a ski instructor and handyman. Following retirement, they relocated to Denver, where he resided until his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Alene; his older sister, Elizabeth; his younger sister, Ingrid; and his younger brother, Max.

Hans is survived by his loving wife, Virginia, along with several nieces and nephews.
