Harold Eugene "Gene" Kinsley, of Denver, Colorado was born May 14, 1930 in Morgantown, West Virginia and passed away at home on February 3, 2014. Gene is survived by his children Joyce (Ron) Rothermel, Mark Kinsley, Julie Manning, Robert "Bob" Kinsley (all in the metro Denver area), and John (Shannon) Kinsley of St. Augustine, Florida, and grandchildren Tyler Kinsley (Florida), Destiny Rothermel, Dustin (Shantel) Rothermel, Aaron (Alanna) Young, Katrina Kinsley, and Landon Kinsley plus five great-grandchildren (all in metro Denver). Gene was the youngest of nine children and is survived by one sister, Elizabeth "Libby" Douglas, 94, of West Virginia, plus many nieces and nephews. Gene was preceded in death by his grandson, Ian Young in 2001.
Gene served as an Airman First Class in the Korean War from 1948 to 1952. After an honorable discharge from the Air Force, Gene attended Santa Rosa Junior College in California earning an associate's degree as a precision machinest. Gene was married to Carol E. Kinsley (nee Dougherty) from 1952 until 1988. They moved in1957 from California to Colorado where Gene was employed at Martin Marietta Aerospace (now Lockheed Martin); he retired in 1990.
Gene enjoyed the Colorado outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was also involved with the College View Volunteer Fire Department for many years.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to MADD.
Interment and a memorial service will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetary on May 14, 2014 @ 2:30 p.m..
