Harold G. Browne, 88, of Denver, passed away April 10, 2014.
He was born September 24, 1925 in Binghamton, New York, the son of Harold and Adelaide (Gage) Browne. He served in WWII, was a POW, and received a bronze star and other honors. On August 3 1946, Harold married Dortha Chauncey, who passed away in October of 1985. He attended Syracuse University, studying business, and worked in construction and the lumber industry his entire career. Harold lived in Binghamton, NY and Pittsburgh, PA for many years before moving to Denver in the late nineteen eighties. After retirement, he travelled extensively and enjoyed woodworking, making fun and creative gifts every year for the entire extended family.
On August 29, 2006, he married Fern (Peregrine) of Denver, Colorado, who shared his love of travel and family and filled his last years with love and laughter. They eagerly anticipated each trip together.
He is survived by his wife, Fern; five children from his first marriage: Carol Wienand (Jerry), Sylvia Windstein (David), Richard J. Browne (Karen), Janette Hudock (Darryl) and Judith Browne (Bill Ryan); Step-children Shannon Todd, Richard Wales, Rodney Wales, Denice Alley and Ron Nelson; 12 Grandchildren; 12 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great-Great Grandchild; 12 Step Grandchildren; 14 Step Great Grandchildren, in addition to many nieces, nephews and other extended family members. Harold loved life, his family and his friends.
