In Memory of Harry Leo Over
1930-2014
Harry Leo Over passed away on November 21, 2014 at the age of 84.
The eldest of 5 children, he was born in Baltimore, Maryland on September 16, 1930 to parents Mary Votta and John Over.
He was drafted to play major league baseball with the Pittsburg Pirates, but chose to serve his country as an Army sergeant in the Korean war instead. He met the love of his life, Lilo, while stationed in Germany and they were married on August 23, 1953.
Harry's career as a quality assurance engineer, first at Martin Marietta and then at Ball Aerospace had him working with the Apollo missions, the Skylab program and various other space programs. He received numerous commendations for his work.
Harry and his wife Lilo were active members of their community in Sheridan CO, where they resided for 46 years. He was a life member of the VFW post 9644, where he served in various offices and spent numerous hours on volunteer projects with his wife Lilo. They were members of the Optimist club, and spent countless hours volunteering at the local schools. Along with his wife Lilo he created a Santa Shop for underprivileged children in the Sheridan schools. They were honored as 7 Every Day Heros' for this labor of love.
Harry was preceded in death by his wife Lilo, daughter Debby, parents Mary and John, sister Lorraine, twin brothers, Joseph and Bruce.
He is survived by his brother Carroll and wife Barbara, his daughters Mary Ann Plocher and husband Bruce, Doreen Christian, Karin Hightower and husband Robert, 6 grandchildren Tammy Bullock and husband John, Carrie Plocher, Kendra Christian, Heather, Kevin and Clinton Hightower, 2 great grandchildren, John III and Miranda Bullock
