Harvey Earl Rhodig, 96, passed into Glory on December 29, 2015.
He was born in Almena, Kansas, on October 16, 1919, to Elizabeth Homburg Rhodig and Henry Taylor Rhodig. Harvey married Iona Ida Bashaw on June 20, 1941.
He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1942, and served until after the war ended. Shortly after, in 1949, he went to work for Prudential Life Insurance Company, where he worked until 1980. In 1964, he earned his Chartered Life Underwriter degree from Bryn Maur College.
Harvey was a man of devout faith and extremely involved in church leadership at Calvary Temple, where he served on the Board of Elders, Missions Committee, and as Sunday School Superintendent, among other duties.
Harvey and Iona have spent their last few years living at Someren Glen Christian Living Community, where Iona still resides.
Harvey, loving husband and father, is survived by his wife Iona, his four daughters Carol Duree (Richard), Penny Caughey (David), Kathie Buck (Dennis), and Sue Johnson (Tollie); nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three nieces; and many friends.
There will be a public viewing on Saturday, January 9, at South Fellowship Church at 6560 S. Broadway from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, funeral service at 2:00 pm, followed by the graveside service at Chapel Hill Cemetery.
