Hazel Lilian Wilkinson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Hazel Lilian Wilkinson on July 30, 2026. A devoted mother, Hazel was known for her honesty, outspoken nature, and remarkable sense of humor. She was born on March 27, 1938, in Dorking, Surrey, United Kingdom, to Hector and Marjorie Baldwin. Throughout her life, Hazel embraced adventure, faced challenges with determination, and cherished the love of her family and friends.

Hazel had a gift for storytelling and loved sharing the many adventures and experiences that shaped her life. Her stories, combined with her quick wit and wicked sense of humor, left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her family will forever remember her ability to find laughter in everyday moments and the way she could brighten any conversation with a well-timed joke.

One of Hazel's many adventures was her four years of service in the Royal Navy, where she worked as an aircraft mechanic. During her time stationed in Malta, she often shared stories of the breathtaking beauty of the Mediterranean, the rich culture of the island, and the lasting friendships she formed along the way. Hazel treasured every moment of her military service until life led her to embark on her next great adventure.

Above all, Hazel will be remembered for her honesty. She spoke her mind without hesitation, always delivering the truth with warmth, humor, and authenticity. She viewed the world through a unique lens, never afraid to share her perspective, and those conversations will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Hazel also had a remarkable talent for gardening, with a green thumb that seemed capable of growing just about anything. She enjoyed barbecuing, listening to music, and spending time outdoors. In retirement, she embraced technology, learned to use a computer, and formed lasting friendships with people around the world, including many in Australia. Her humor, kindness, and honesty knew no boundaries, touching lives far beyond her own community.

Hazel is lovingly remembered by her children, Cathie, Teresa, Melanie, Kim, Michelle, Robert, Yvette, and David. She is also survived by her brother, Mike, and her sisters, Ann, Maureen and Sheila. In addition, she leaves behind a large and loving family in both the United States and the United Kingdom, including many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended relatives, and dear friends who will cherish her memory always.
