Helen B. Soika

Helen B. Soika, 106, passed away peacefully in her home on September 13, 2026, from natural causes.

Helen was born on October 19, 1921, in Newton Falls, Ohio, a daughter of the late Paul and Mary Shylak Banko. She was a graduate of Newton Falls High School and went on to pursue a career in accounting, earning her CPA designation.

Helen married Nicholas Soika in December 1956. They shared nearly 60 years together before his passing in August 2016.

Helen enjoyed watching football and was an avid Bronco fan. In her later years, she enjoyed playing cards, going to the park to watch the geese, working on crossword puzzles, and making trips to the casinos. She will be remembered by those who knew and loved her for her long and remarkable life.

Helen is survived by her niece, Cindy (Frank) Ritze, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Nicholas, Helen was preceded in death by her five sisters, Rose Hill, Pauline Englehart, Mary Stassin, Kathryn Ross, Ann, and her three brothers, John, Andrew, and Nick Banko.

Helen will be laid to rest beside her husband at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
