Henry Floyd Haley 1948-2012
Henry Haley was born in Denver, Colorado, August 27, 1948 to the late Fred Haley and Matilda Lucero.
Henry was the fourth child out of six. He grew up attending Manual High School playing basketball and enjoying being a teenager. After high school he enlisted in the Army. In 1971, after his tour of duty, he returned to Colorado and married Linda Newby. The following year they went to Oakland, California where soon after their only child was born, a beautiful baby girl, Dawnyell . Shortly thereafter, they returned to Colorado and later separated but remained good friends until he was called Home.
Henry loved life and enjoyed making people laugh. His whimsical humor, quirky mannerisms and hot-headedness (on occasion) is what you remembered after leaving his side. Although he was not a member of a church organization, he was a man who knew the Lord and His capabilities; whenever he weathered a storm or was presented with goodness, he would pay tribute to our Heavenly Father.
In his last days, he was able to be in the comfort of his home with his beloved Anne Martinez and their cat Cleo. He was constantly surrounded with the love of his family.
On Thursday, May 10, 2012, Henry went home to be with the Lord. He is survived by his daughter, Dawnyell Retland. His two grandsons: Zacqariah and Zavier Richmond. His companion, Anne Martinez. His brother, Eugene DeLao; and his two sisters, Katherine Pigford and Virginia Heartfield. His wife, Linda (separated). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
