Harry Spackman was born in Liverpool, England on June 22nd, 1938 to parents Henry and Elizabeth Spackman. Harry grew up with his parents and sisters, Vivienne and Barbara, in Knowsley Village. As a young man Harry enlisted in the British Army, Kings Regiment and was recognized for his outstanding marksmanship. Following his military service, he joined the Merchant Navy and traveled extensively through the Far East.
Upon returning back to his homeland, Harry went to work at Kraft where he met his bride to be. He wed Gillian Owen in St.Helens, England. After starting their family, Harry purchased their first home and relocated his wife and baby daughter Amanda Jane to Kirkby, Merseyside. They lived next door to what would become their life long friends, the Joelson's. During their life in Kirkby his daughter Debra and son David were born. Harry spent time with his family and good friends enjoying time in Landrillo, Wales. After the death of his mother, times were difficult in Liverpool and the company Harry worked for was moving out of the country. Harry decided it was time to make another move. His sister Barbara sponsored him to immigrate to America. The family settled in Aurora, CO. Upon his arrival in Colorado, Harry found a job with Tharco, a company he worked for 25 years until his retirement.
In his spare time, you could find Harry either fishing or planning a trip with his family and/or friends. Harry traveled around America with his family in an RV. Many good times were spent with his favorite navigators: Gill & Bernie. Being a true angler, he went fishing every chance he got, teaching his son and anyone willing to fish the tricks of the trade. Once his granddaughter, Sophia Amelia Roning (referred to as his #1) was born, he became her partner in crime. They had great fun and Harry never gave up an opportunity to spend time with her, even sitting through endless Disney movies.
Harry lived his life and loved his family dearly. He was a great friend to many. He made you feel welcome in his home and made you a part of his family whether you were a friend, neighbor or acquaintance. His blue eyes and bright smile warmed our hearts and will leave an everlasting imprint on our lives.
Those we laughed with,
Learned from,
Leaned on and loved most
Leave us the best memories.
