Hope Esperanza Sanchez Ventura, affectionately known as "Hopie," passed away peacefully at her home in Denver, Colorado, on January 23, 2026, surrounded by her beloved family. Born on August 18, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois, Hope dedicated her life to nurturing and enriching the lives of those around her, both in her professional career and her personal life.

With an unwavering passion for education, Hope served as a ESOL teacher with Denver Public Schools, dedicating herself to teaching English to generations of children. She imparted not only knowledge but also a love for learning, inspiring countless students during her tenure at Denver Public Schools. Ultimately, she rose to the esteemed position of Parent Liaison for the parent advisory committee with DPS, reaching into the hearts and minds of parents and families.

Hope's accomplishments extended far beyond her professional achievements. She was not only a devoted wife to her husband, Juan, with whom she celebrated an astounding 74 years of marriage, but they had shared their lives together for an impressive 80 years. This steadfast partnership exemplified her unwavering commitment to family and love, values she cherished deeply.

As a mother, Hope was equally devoted. She took great pride in raising her children—sons John and Tim, as well as daughters Estherrose, Beth (married to Chris), and Nina (married to John)—ensuring they received a college education and instilling in them the same love for learning that she embodied. She adored her grandchildren, often speaking of them with glowing enthusiasm. Her grandsons, Daniel (married to Kristen), Elijah (married to Maddie), Miguel (partner to Sara), Joseph, and Alex, along with her granddaughters, Feliz, Shyanne (married to Ryan), Alba, and Alina, were the treasures of her heart. She rejoiced in the milestones of their lives, and the joys of a great granddaughter, Sydney, filled her with indescribable happiness.

Beyond her professional life, Hope was a woman of vibrant personality and warmth. She had a wonderful sense of humor, characterized by her funny and silly demeanor. Her laughter was infectious, illuminating the lives of everyone fortunate enough to enter her home. She stood strong in her faith her entire life carrying her through many difficult times. For years Hope was actively involved in the Mennonite Church and supported many organizations in the Hispanic community.

Most knew her as a loving and kind soul who embraced others without judgment, always ready to lend a listening ear and offer support. Though few realized her affinity for music and dance, she found joy in these passions, further enriching her vibrant spirit. She sang in the church choir and enjoyed many joyful times singing and playing the piano with her sisters.

Hope's legacy is one marked by love, compassion, and an unyielding dedication to her family and community. She will be profoundly missed, yet her memory will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her, for her life was a testament to the beauty of generosity, laughter, and unwavering love. Rest in peace, dear Hope. Your light will continue to shine brightly in the lives you touched. She would end her visits and calls with, I love you mucho mucho!

A celebration of life will be held at a later date please check back for future updates.
