Hope Michelle Lucero

Hope Michelle Lucero, lovingly known as “Hopey,” was born on October 30, 1976, in Albuqerque, New Mexico. She departed from this world on July 16, 2026, in Denver, Colorado, surrounded by her family and loved ones—a true testament to the depth of connection and loyalty she fostered throughout her lifetime.

From an early age, Hope radiated a vibrant spirit—her loving and outgoing personality was the bright light for many, guiding them through tough times and standing as the family’s steadfast cornerstone. She was the embodiment of strength, a fighter with unabashed feistiness and a heart full of warmth. Those closest would joke about her stubborn side, confessing, with affection, that she could be a touch spoiled, but no one could deny that she glued the family together with her unwavering presence.

Hope’s childhood and formative years in Albuquerque were marked by laughter, energy, and a hunger for life. She graduated proudly from Freedom High School, already demonstrating the determination and leadership qualities that would define her adult years. To her family and friends, Hope was so much more than her accomplishments; she was a leader and a wonderful listener, always extending a shoulder to lean on, never questioning, simply there whenever someone needed her.

Her passions filled her days with color and light. Hope found joy in coloring and diamond art, investing hours into her creative pursuits. Crossword puzzles challenged her quick wit, while dancing and celebrations brought the music of life alive in every corner of the room. Taking to the open road on a Harley for a motorcycle ride was among her favorite escapes—liberating, thrilling, shared with those she loved most.

Family remained the core of her world. Hope cherished family days—simple, laughter-filled moments, often spent playing cards (where her love of poker shone brightly) or losing herself in music. She held these memories close, passing along traditions and joy to the next generations. To her, there was no greater accomplishment than her children and grandchildren. They were her pride—the living testament to her legacy, each carrying within them a spark of her spirit.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Arthur Lucero Jr., and their children: Dominique Lucero, Arthur Lucero III, Justine Mariz and Stiven Colin. Her grandchildren—Alejandra, Leilani, and Santiago—held a unique place in her heart, lighting up her world with their smiles and laughter. She leaves behind her devoted father, Michael F. Sanchez, her caring mother, Debbie Atencio and Step-Dad, Randy Coats, her dear sister, April Atencio, and her brother, Francisco M. Sanchez. Hope's legacy continues through her nieces, nephews, and in-laws, all of whom she loved deeply and who loved her in turn.

Preceding her in death is her cherished grandmother, Patricia Lucero, with whom she shared a special bond.

Hope’s absence leaves a space impossible to fill, but her memory and love will continue to bind those she held dear. She was the one to turn to in times of need, the vibrant energy at every gathering, and the nurturing heart anchoring each family moment. Her feistiness, compassion, and spirited nature will be fondly remembered, and her example will continue to inspire.

A Memorial Service will be held to honor Hope’s life on August 12, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 3:15 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, West Metro, located at 901 S Sheridan Blvd, Denver, CO 80226. All who knew and loved her are welcome to join in celebrating her remarkable life.

Hope Michelle Lucero’s journey may have met its earthly end, but her influence and glow remain undiminished. She will be missed beyond measure and remembered with all the love she gave to this world.
