Ida Price

November 20, 1919 — January 20, 2015

Ida (Kolk) Price, 95, passed away peacefully at home in Longview, Washington on January 20, 2015.

She was born on November 20,1919 in Sterling, Nebraska to Albert John and Etta Mae (Frieze) Kolk. Ida was the youngest of ten children, sisters Dena, Caroline, Gertrude, Margaret, Marie, Angie and brothers George, John and Conrad. Ida met the love of her life, John (Jack) Dalton Price in Centralia, Washington in 1950. They were married a few months later on December 1, 1950 in Monterey California. Ida and Jack enjoyed 58 years together before Jack passed away. Although Ida never had children of her own, she had a special place in her heart for all children. There wasn't a child she didn't love and who didn't love her back.

She served in the Navy from December 1944 to May 1946, Yeoman Third Class, Ida Kolk was stationed in Bronx, New York, Treasure Island San Francisco, California and San Bruno, California. During her tour of duty she was responsible for scheduling entertainment for the troops as well as many secretarial duties. Ida grew up in Eckley, Colorado later living in Longview, Centralia and Portland until 1957, when Jack and her moved to Denver, Colorado where both were employed by Denver Federal Center. Ida worked for the Geology Department until her retirement. Early in her work career, she worked for Longview Fibre Company (her favorite job) as well as working as a switch board operator and Montgomery Wards Auditor.

Ida moved back to Washington in 2010 to be near family. She was quick witted and kept us laughing. Ida was a loving caring person and will be missed by all who knew her. Dance the night away and be at peace. Mak de leiden Ida!

Ida was preceded in death by her husband Jack, her parents, all her siblings and many other cherished family members. Ida is survived by her nieces Pauline Lowry and Bert Galford. Also surviving are numerous great nieces and great nephews as well as her dear friend Esther Banks of Lakewood, Colorado and Esther's family.

Ida will be laid to rest beside her husband at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
