Inez Cabrera de Updike, 87, of Denver, Colorado went to the Lord on March 27, 2014.
She was born to the late Bonifacio Cabrera and the late Maria Acosta de Cabrera in Cananea, Sonora, Mexico on January 27, 1927. She studied to become a bilingual secretary and married Ray Allison Updike on November 21, 1953. They lived in Cananea, Mexico, Tonopah, Nevada, and Boise, Idaho until Ray Allison's death in 2006. Inez moved to Colorado in 2008.
Inez worked as an office manager for Tapia Hermanos, as a secretary to the general manager of Cananea Consolidated Copper Company, as a secretary to Instituto Minerva School and as a court translator in Tonopah, Nevada. In later years she worked as a clerk in various companies and stores.
Inez was passionate about helping people in general and as a Teresita, volunteer nurse and through various church activities. A precocious child and an avid learner, she began first grade at the age of 4. She loved to tell stories and jokes, which suited her friendly, outgoing personality.
Inez lived a full life and her spirit lives on through her 5 children, 13 grandchildren, and great-grandson.
A memorial service will be held at Mountainview Community Christian Church, 40 Highlands Ranch Parkway, Highlands Ranch 80126 at 7:00 PM on Saturday, August 9th, 2014.
