Irene Theresa Overby, 83, of Edgewater, passed away March 16, 2015.
She was born July 23, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Wallace and Josephine (Mrus) Urbanowicz. She was a graduate of Rock Island High School. She attended Metro State College. On December 19, 1953 she married Deane Overby, of Rock Island, Illinois.
Irene is survived by her husband Deane, of 62 years; children, Wayne (Mary) Overby, Jerome Overby, Penny (Richard) Grant, Melody J. (Michael) Olson, Roger (Joan) Overby, and Jodie (Thomas) Luxner; eight grandchildren, Daniel (Heather) Overby, Joseph Overby, Kenneth Overby, Tyler Luxner, Devin Luxner, Sarah (Randy) Cartlidge, Trevor Olson, and Justin Olson; three great-grandchildren,Gabby Cartlidge, Mackenzie Cartlidge, and Alexander Overby; one sister and two brothers. She is preceded in death by her son, Randy Overby; parents, two sisters and one brother.
Grandma's grand kids were her pride and joy. Grandma was an avid Rockies and Bronco's fan. A game did not go by where she did not change her shirt into the team's jersey. If the phone rang during the game, she would say "Don't you know the Rockies are on."
Grandma was an avid fisherman. She and grandpa spent countless hours fishing together.
