J. Daniel Waddell

J. Daniel Waddell, 77, of Grand Lake passed away August 8, 2015.

He was born October 31, 1937 in Alamosa, Colorado, the son of James and Opal Waddell. After his mother passed in childbirth, Dan was raised by his father, who brought his angel, Bessie (Thompson) Waddell into his life. He was a graduate of Wheat Ridge High School. On December 18, 1971 he married Charlotte Wilbur.

Dan worked in the Parts Departments of various dealerships in the Denver area for over 30 years. He later changed careers and retired from the Regional Transportation District as a Supply Clerk after 10 years of service.

After retirement, Dan and Charlotte moved to Grand Lake where he sat and watched the hummingbirds and begrudgingly maintained his acreage. He also served as President of the Grand County Council on Aging for 4 years.

In addition to his wife, Charlotte Waddell, Dan is survived by Two Daughters, Cheryl Ann Lane and Christel (Ed) Lykins; Three Sons, Clark W. Waddell (Pam Dudley), Craig R. (Terri) Worley, James L. (Irene) Waddell; Ten Grandchildren, Crystal (Tim) Tomlin, Brandi (Don) Gaskamp, Brett Lane, Laura Lane (Mark Scherer), Nikole Waddell, Emelia Pugliese, Dante Worley, Sabrina Waddell, Alexander Lykins and Shelby Lykins and Nine Great-Grandchildren, Ashleyy Skyy Raymond, Dakota Raymond, Alyssa Raymond, Donnie Gaskamp, Brandon Gaskamp, Cian Lane, Kaitlynn Lane, Alaura Miller and Bailee Jo Lane.

He is preceded in death by Father, James Claude Waddell, Mothers, Opal and Bessie May Waddell, and Son, Charles R. Waddell.

Dan was not a formal man so please respect his wishes and come casual to his service.
