Jack Andrew Gray, 93, of Denver passed away June 30, 2014 with his family by his side.
Born October 6, 1920, to Robert A. and Jane N. Gray of Denver. He was married to Florence Elizabeth Ford on August 4, 1946. They were married for 63 years before she passed away in 2010.
After graduating from East High School in Denver, he started work at Public Service Company of Colorado until his retirement in 1986 after 48 years of service.
Jack was the eldest of seven children. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Bill, Robert D., Richard and sisters Margaret and Barbara. He is survived by his sister Bobbetta. He is also survived by his daughter Lynette of Parker, sons Donald (Amy) of Lafayette, and Gary of Morrison, grandchildren Jason (Amie), Erin, J.W., Katelyn, great granddaughter Olivia, and several nieces and nephews.
He served in the Navy from 1942 to 1946. He was stationed in California and spent time in the Aleutian Islands. While serving he played basketball and baseball with the Seabees. Back in civilian life he played basketball on numerous AAU teams including the 1946 and 1947 Denver Nuggets.
He was a 50 year member of the Masons, Denver Lodge number 5, and an active member of the El Jebel Shrine participating in the Bagpipe Band, Jesters, and Sandblasters.
In his retirement years he enjoyed extensive traveling with his wife Florence and daughter Lyne. He also enjoyed playing golf as often as possible and watching his favorite football team, the Broncos. He was an avid watcher of the Rockies baseball team.
He will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor.
