Jacque Peterson

Jacque Peterson, a vibrant spirit and deeply cherished soul, passed away on June 1, 2026, in Lakewood, Colorado. Born on May 2, 1940, in Alta, Iowa, Jacque’s life was one marked by generosity, warmth, and an unshakable connection to faith and nature.

A proud alumna of Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa, where she completed her Bachelor’s Degree, Jacque carried her education with grace and used it as a foundation to enrich her community and those around her. Her vivacious personality was evident to all who met her — she never met a stranger and welcomed everyone with open arms. Those fortunate enough to know her recall her love for living in the mountains, a place where she found peace and joy, often spending her days feeding the deer and tending to the local wildlife that surrounded her home.

Jacque’s heart overflowed with kindness and generosity. She was always searching for ways to help others, reflecting the deep strength of her Christian faith. Even when unable to attend church services in person, her commitment remained unbroken as she faithfully participated through livestream, maintaining her connection to her spiritual community with unwavering devotion.

Her love extended beyond people to the animals she held dear, especially her cats, who were constant companions and a source of comfort and happiness in her life. Jacque’s home in the mountains was a sanctuary filled with the calls of birds, the rustling of trees, and the presence of the wild beings she adored.

Jacque was preceded in death by those very close to her heart: her beloved husband Jack, her dear parents Carl and Adaline Otto, and her three brothers. Their memories live on in the stories shared by those who loved her and in the quiet moments when the mountains whisper her name.

A Celebration of Life to honor Jacque’s extraordinary journey will be held from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM on July 17, 2026, at Shepherd Of The Rockies Lutheran Church, located at 106 Rosalie Rd, Bailey, Colorado. It will be a time to remember the joy she brought into so many lives and to gather in gratitude for a life well lived.

Jacque Peterson’s spirit, her kindness, and her love will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew her, a testament to a life full of meaning, laughter, and unwavering faith. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
