Listen to Obituary

James Alvin Carpenter entered the presence of Jesus, His Lord and Savior, on Dec 27, 2025.

Jim was born to Maxine and Elvin Carpenter on January 18, 1941 in Long Pine, Nebraska. They, along with his younger sister Janice, eventually settled in Riverton, WY where he met Diana Harmon, who would become his beloved wife of 66 years.

Having graduated from Riverton High School in 1958, he attended Hollywood Technology Institute in Denver, CO for electronics training. He was then hired by Western Electric, but began his long, 30-year career with Coors Brewing Co in 1968.

Jim married Diana on June 6, 1959 and the young couple settled in Colorado. They raised their six children in the Denver metro area, calling their house on Flower Street in Arvada home for the last 57 years.

Jim made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ, and in obedience followed his Lord and Savior in believer’s baptism on December 21, 1969. He had a servant’s heart, and would serve as an elder in his church.

He lived a full, faithful life of strength, integrity and service. He looked for ways to build, repair and maintain things around him and used those talents to help others as well. He was a natural mentor and taught those under his care the value of hard, skillful, honest work and the importance of upright living. Jim loved deeply, was loved deeply in return and led his family with excellence.

He enjoyed serving at his church, sports, camping, fishing, hunting, attending Bronco games, history, photography, gardening, music and being outdoors in God's creation. He mostly took great pleasure in spending time with his family and now leaves behind a legacy of grateful, worshipful hearts who all take great comfort in knowing he is at rest and more alive than he's ever been.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing." 2 Timothy 4:7-8

Jim was preceded in death by his father Elvin, mother Maxine and brother-in-law Richard. He is survived by his sister Janice, wife Diana, children Scott (Joyce), Michael (Dina), Kevin (Lisa), Denise (Dennis), Joel, Jennifer (Tim), 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews- all of whom hold dear their memories of him and rejoice knowing they will all be reunited in eternity.

Interment will be attended by family, preceding a celebration of life, open to all.
