James E. "Jim" Schulenburg, son of Milton and Flora Schulenburg, was born in Tripoli, Wisconsin, on August 13, 1921. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. He attended schools in Wausau, and lived in Boston for some years. The family later moved to Arizona. During WWII, he worked for a time at McDonald-Douglas Aircraft Co. later joining the United States Air Force in 1947. He married Anita Hogelucht on April 24, 1954.
Jim enjoyed any kind of work in the electronics field and had many friends who shared in his "Ham Radio" interests. He worked as an Electronic Engineering Technician in the Military and retired in 1967. After working in that field for several companies, he retired from the Bio-Engineering Department at the University of Colorado in 1991. In 1992, he assisted in maintenance of radio and medical equipment on the Anastasis, the YWAM Mercy Ship.
In 1993, volunteer work took him to various countries including Cyprus, Afghanistan, Israel and Thailand.
He is survived by his wife, Anita of Aurora, one son, James A. (Myra) Schulenburg of Aurora; one daughter, Julia Schulenburg of Dallas, Texas; two grandsons, David Schulenburg of Dallas, Texas and Michael Schulenburg of Aurora.
