James Allen Ford, 55, of Denver, Colorado, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.
James was born in Coffeyville, Kansas. He graduated from Emily Griffith High School in 1990 and later earned an Associate degree in Drafting from Arapahoe Community College in 2002. He spent time living in Wichita before eventually settling in Denver, where he built his life and career.
In his early years, James proudly served in the United States Navy. After his military service, he followed his passion for design and technical drawing, building a career in architectural drafting. James had a deep appreciation for architecture and frequently spoke about the work and philosophy of Frank Lloyd Wright. His love for design carried into his professional life, where he created detailed CAD drawings and worked on projects for companies including Lockheed Martin.
Outside of work, James enjoyed staying active and could often be found running 5Ks. He also enjoyed going to the shooting range, watching movies, and spending time with the people he loved most.
As a father, James was stoic and quiet, but deeply devoted to his children. He was the kind of man who didn’t always say much, but his presence was constant. He put his kids above everything else and showed his love through his reliability, support, and the steady way he was always there for them.
James is survived by his four children: Kristi Jones of Wichita, Kansas; Jazzy Ford, Jalen (Angelina) Ford , and Alondra aka Crimson Ford of Denver, Colorado. He is also survived by two grandchildren Avione Jones-Hadley, and Remington Rhoden. He is also survived by his sisters, Shawntel (Jerry), Tenina, and Tracey, and his brothers, Andre, Mike and Milton Jr.
He is proceeded in death by his parents LaRhonda Murrell and Milton Reed Sr, and sister Darla Reed.
Because James’s passing was sudden, in lieu of flowers the family welcomes donations to help cover funeral expenses. Contributions may be made to Alondra Ford.
