Jim passed away on April 27, 2015 at the age of 73. He was born on December 17, 1941 in Los Angeles, CA just ten days after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. He was born to Verne Franklin Rarick and Rose Opal Evans Rarick. The family moved around quite a bit before settling down in Aurora, CO in 1956. He graduated from Aurora Central High School in 1961. Jim joined the navy January 1964 he served 4 years aboard the USS Osbourne destroyer. He served 3 tours in Vietnam doing river patrols on the Saigon River.
On February 15, 1970 he married Bonnie Sue Casedy. They were married for 45 years. Jim had 2 children James Scott and Rebecca Sue; daughter in law, Rachel Wilson and son in law, Bill Deaton, who preceded him in death. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his brother William Claude Rarick. Jim has three grandchildren: Nicholas Scott, Joshua Allen and Mikayla Sue. He also has many brother and sister in laws and nieces and nephews.
Jim worked at Safeway for twelve years, during high school, before and after serving in the Navy. Jim started working at Otis Elevator on October 10, 1970 and retired on April 27, 2001. He was an elevator service repair mechanic for 31 years.
Jim enjoyed spending time out at the old Rarick farm, northeast of Kiowa, target shooting. He also enjoyed camping, traveling, working in the garden, woodworking, refinishing antiques, listening to country music, he loved the water especially the ocean. He also liked to spend time as much as possible with his grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to come to Elizabeth Cemetery at 2PM on Saturday, May 9, 2015 for a graveside service and then back to his home in Aurora for a casual gathering.
"We are all visitors to this time, this place. We are just passing through. Our purpose here is to observe, to learn, to grow, to love....And then we return home."
