James R. Gifford, age 97, of Westminster, Colorado, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020. Born February 12, 1923 in Boone, Iowa, he was the son of the late Clayton Gifford and Agnes (Johnson) Gifford.
Jim was a pilot with the Army Air Corps during WWII. He fought in Africa and later in Europe when he was shot down and became a POW. When he returned from the war, he married his high school sweetheart, Blanche Marie Landphair, on June 30, 1945. Jim later worked for Minnesota Mutual Life Ins. Co. Jim was a caring husband and father. He was always very active in his church. He loved to go RV camping and travel with friends and family. Jim and Blanche were married 74 years and both passed away within hours of each other on Easter morning.
Jim is survived by children James Gifford, Sonci Wobermin and Rebecca Knight, grandchildren Tawnya Frey, Joshua Knight, Sonci Francis, Suzanne Hogarth, Joel Knight, Angela Searcy and Kelly Knight and twelve great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Gifford.
