James is survived by his sister, Jane A. Stevens; brother, Timothy P. Theel; niece, Erin L. Elliott; great nephew, Bryce W. Elliott; great niece, Lexi L. Elliott. He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Paul C. Theel, uncle, Max A. Paulson.
