James Lloyd Price, 50 year resident of the Denver area, passed away on Saturday, April 26th 2014 at his home in Denver. James (Jim) was born in Baker, Montana on February 18th 1942 to the late Lewelyn and Jessie Price.
Jim was an athlete who loved the outdoors and enjoyed participating in as well as watching and officiating sporting events. He played four years of college football for Eastern Montana College in Billings, Montana. He then transferred to the University of Denver where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing in 1965 and a Master of Science degree the following year.
James married Regina Snyder Price in 1966 and had four children.
After completing his post graduate work he accepted a position with Mountain Bell. He worked for 'Ma Bell' until the early 1980's when he left and started his own marketing business. Later, he joined Prudential Insurance Company. In 1994, he went back to his hardware store roots by joining the Green Mountain Ace Hardware Team until he retired in 2004.
Jim is a former president of the Southwest Denver Lions Club (1994 - 1996), and former commissioner of the Columbine Soccer Association (1979 – 1981). He officiated soccer games for many years and enjoyed rooting for the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Rockies. Jim's favorite outdoor activity was fly-fishing, and he went fishing often while visiting his home state of Montana.
Jim is survived by four children: Jamie Price of Evergreen; Jenette VanWormer of Aurora; Marcie Pearson of Westminster; and Jeffrey Price of Dallas. Jim is also survived by five grandsons and his brother Lew Price. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Jessie Price, and his brother, Dick Price.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to The Lions Club of Denver, 4101 East Louisiana Ave., Suite 404, Denver, CO 80246 (303) 504-6293, in memory of James L. Price.
A memorial service will be held on May 28th at 5:30 p.m. at Rockland Community Church.
