James Kirby Marshall, 66, of Elizabeth, Colorado died on Sunday, November 16, 2014.
Jim was born to the late Charles Leonard and Kathryn Lavinia Marshall (née Russell) in Roswell, New Mexico on December 24, 1947. He grew up in Amarillo and Abilene, Texas and was a 1966 graduate of Cooper High School in Abilene. He married Hazel May Armstrong of McAllen, Texas in 1969, and they lived in Dallas and Oklahoma City until relocating to Colorado in 1984.
After attending Hardin Simmons University and University of Texas at Arlington, and majoring in electrical engineering, Jim had a long career in the telecommunications industry, starting with Southwestern Bell and continuing through successor entities AT&T, Lucent Technologies, and Avaya.
An avid Dallas Cowboys fan, Jim was also an auto and technology enthusiast who enjoyed spending many hours tinkering with classic cars, computers and electronics, as well as crafting and repairing neon signs in his garage.
Jim was a Christian who loved the Lord and studying the Bible. He will be remembered for his generosity and care for others. Always ready to help, he often did favors like plowing a neighbor's driveway after a snowstorm or stopping to change a flat tire. He also enjoyed serving meals and delivering Thanksgiving baskets to the needy.
Jim is survived by his wife, Hazel, and four children: Michelle Schulze and husband Mark of Austin, Texas; James Marshall, Jr. of Arvada, Colorado; Rebekah Hanni and husband Christopher of Gibsonton, Florida; and Charles Andrew (Drew) Marshall and wife Daniella of Parker, Colorado. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Paul and Laura Schulze, Ophelia and Everett Hanni, and Tamzen and Aryah Marshall.
Funeral services, officiated by Drew Marshall, were held on November 20 at Elizabeth Bible Missionary Church. Pallbearers were Mark Schulze, James Marshall Jr., Drew Marshall, Joel Harris, Joe Punicki, Justin West, Derek Longwell and Stephen Reinicki. Burial was in Elizabeth Cemetery.
