James O Green, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great great-grandfather and friend passed away peacefully in his home February 11, 2026. Born in 1932 in Oneota, AL. His actual date of birth remains a mystery, a tale of two birthdays.
In 1951 James joined the Army, after serving for a few years he was honorably discharged.
August 29, 1953, James married Mildred Williams, they started building their family a few years later. Life brought them to Denver, CO where they settled and raised their 5 children: Kathy Everhart, Larry Green, Barry Green, Stephen Green, and Bruce Green. He was the happiest when he was surrounded by his family. With 9 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren he always looked forward to birthdays and Christmas. He loved giving the kids bags full of $1 bills, the money Christmas tree and the jacket pocket that “grew” $1 bills.
After retiring from the airlines, he never missed a chance to travel back to Alabama to visit family and friends. It was always twice a year like clockwork. He continued to work part-time driving a shuttle for the hotels until he was almost 90 years old. He loved meeting new people and never wanted to just sit around.
You always knew where to find him on Saturday’s during college football season, ROLL TIDE! His love for the Crimson Tide has been passed down for generations.
He was proceeded in death by his wife Mildred, daughter Kathy, son Stephen and all his siblings and parents.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
