James Nelson Pasono, 70, of Denver, Colorado passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on October 23rd, 2025. James was born in Portsmouth, Virginia on September 11th, 1955 to Nelson and Therese Pasono.
JP, as he was affectionately known, was a passionate family man and cherished spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. You could always find him reading the newspaper, eating his favorite ice cream, or watching the Colorado Rockies (although they were typically losing).
James married the love of his life, Sue, on April 24th, 2004, blending their two families into one. He is survived by his wife, Sue, his children April and Amanda Pasono; Amanda, Alexandra, Amelia, and Andrew Jensen; and his grandchildren Cameron, Kenzie, Quinn, Michael, Julia, Lincoln, Phoenix, and Emery.
As a born aviator, he dedicated his life and career to aviation. He enthusiastically shared his love of airplanes and flying with friends and family. In his retirement, he served as a loyal member of his community volunteering his time weekly at his church and food bank to help those in need.
He was preceded in death by his parents Nelson and Therese, and younger brother Daniel Pasono.
He will be remembered for his goofy outfits and jokes, cozy demeanor, generosity and encouragement to all, integrity, great hugs and unconditional love.
In honor of James’ giving heart and selflessness, please consider a donation to Cross Culture Church Foodbank (https://www.crossculturedenver.org/give) or Jesus on Colfax (https://donate.overflow.co/jesusoncolfax), in lieu of flowers.
