James W. Spencer, 75, son of Agnes (nee Dumler) Spencer and Harlan Spencer died September 19, 2016 at the Medical Center of Aurora, Colorado. Jim was born September 3, 1941 in Hays, Kansas and grew up in Russell, KS. He graduated from Russell High School in 1959 followed by attendance at Ft. Hays State College.
In 1961 Jim joined the National Guard and was honorably discharged in 1967. He made his home in Aurora, CO where he was employed by Dumler Auto Supply, Smalley & Company, Jeppesen, and preceding retirement he worked in the restaurant business. He was a Mason and an Elk.
Jim married Maxine M. Giles in 1974; they divorced in 1985, and she predeceased him.
Jim is survived by his sister, Nancy Spencer Stankiewicz, and brother-in-law Jim Stankiewicz, of Overland Park, Kansas, his niece Julia Burbridge, nephews Greg and David Stankiewicz, four grand- nieces, one grandnephew, and many cousins.
An intimate family service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 a.m., November 5, 2016, in the chapel of St. John's Lutheran Church, Russell, followed by a graveside service at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Russell
