James Thomas Grieve
July 25, 1952 - December 10, 2014
My brother Jim passed away peacefully on December 10 at 9:17 pm.
He is survived by his mother Sarah Grieve; sister Kimberly Chapman; and ladyfriend of 28 years Ann Clemons (Grand Junction). With his sister he shared being Uncle "Bubba" to Toni (Lance) McGowan; Great Uncle Bubba to Logan and Shiloh McGowan. With Ann he shared being a Grandfather to her five grandchildren Kyle, Krystal, Travis, Barbie and Rex. Great-grandfather to 4-1/2 year old Bentley. He is preceded in death by his father Thomas Grieve and brother-in-law Charles Chapman.
Bubba was admitted to St Marys Hospital on November 21 suffering severe medical complications from diabetes. He was to have a double amputation of both legs below the knee three after suffering a stroke on December 5. He was airlifted from St Marys in Grand Junction to Swedish Hospital in Englewood for advanced treatment. He was on life support and with each day he deteriorated. After a meeting with the doctors on December 9 Mother, Ann and I discussed his last wishes and on December 10 took Bubba off of life support at 5:00 pm. He passed away peacefully at 9:17 pm.
He did not want a service. He was cremated and his ashes will be sent to Grand Junction for interment at the City of Grand Junction cemetery where he and Ann have a columbarium facing the Grand Mesa - he loved the mountains.
Though Mother and I had a distant relationship with Bubba, we loved him dearly and want him to be remembered in his happier, healthier days. He lived a wonderful life in Grand Junction with many close friends who thought the world of him. His life with Ann was full and they enjoyed many happy years together.
